Rapid7 to Establish Software Development Centre in Belfast creating 75 new jobs

Boston, MA — October 7, 2014

Rapid7, a leading provider of security analytics software and services, today announced that it is setting up a software innovation centre in Belfast, creating 75 highly skilled jobs and dozens of student placement opportunities. Recruitment has already started and 30 positions have already been hired. To support this exciting initiative, Invest NI has offered support of £510,000 for the investment.

Speaking about the investment, Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Arlene Foster said: "I'm delighted to be announcing that Rapid7, one of the USA's fastest growing software security companies, is establishing a presence in Northern Ireland and creating 75 high salary jobs over the next three years. The new jobs being created by Rapid7 will generate over £3 million for the economy annually."

Corey Thomas, president and CEO of Rapid7, said: "We had the pleasure of meeting the First Minister and the deputy First Minister when they came to Boston last year. With their encouragement we decided to consider Northern Ireland further. We were impressed with the excellent business environment, particularly the close working relationship between government, industry and academia. Of note was the work the universities are doing in IT security.

"Invest NI's support and the availability of high quality technical staff made Northern Ireland an attractive location for us. The Belfast centre will help us to scale up our operations and address a wider customer base in the US, Europe and Asia."
