One thing we like to think we do well here at Logentries is listen to our global user base! Something that a lot of you have asked for recently is log archiving. Ask and you shall receive – we have now opened a Beta for archiving to Amazon S3. So you can be safe in the knowledge that your log files will be archived safely every night to a reliable storage facility should you ever need them in the future. You can also be sure that any compliance or PCI requirements specifying the backing-up and storage of log data are being met.
Our system will take any new incoming log events that you send to us, package these up on a daily basis, compress them to minimize your storage requirements and then back them up to your Amazon S3 bucket.
As always we aim to make this feature as simple to use as possible to use. In our humble opinion, too many products are overloaded with so many controls that it becomes virtually unusable – at Logentries it’s all about creating a simple solution to a complex problem.
As Einstein himself put it:
“Everything should be made as simple as possible but not simpler!”

- Give us your Bucket ID on S3.
- Give your Logentries account write access to your S3 bucket.
- We will then upload all the new log files/entries that have come in on your account on a daily basis.
- Done.
