Advantech iView Unauthenticated Remote Code Execution

Disclosed

Description

This module exploits an unauthenticated configuration change combined with an unauthenticated file write primitive, leading to an arbitrary file write that allows for remote code execution as the user running iView, which is typically NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. This issue was demonstrated in the vulnerable version 5.7.02.5992 and fixed in version 5.7.03.6112.

Module Options

To display the available options, load the module within the Metasploit console and run the commands 'show options' or 'show advanced':

msf > use exploit/windows/http/advantech_iview_unauth_rce
msf exploit(advantech_iview_unauth_rce) > show targets
    ...targets...
msf exploit(advantech_iview_unauth_rce) > set TARGET < target-id >
msf exploit(advantech_iview_unauth_rce) > show options
    ...show and set options...
msf exploit(advantech_iview_unauth_rce) > exploit

Time is precious, so I don’t want to do something manually that I can automate. Leveraging the Metasploit Framework when automating any task keeps us from having to re-create the wheel as we can use the existing libraries and focus our efforts where it matters.
