Rapid7 Announces Professional Security Certifications for Nexpose and Metasploit

Certifications Available for Nexpose Administrators and Metasploit Pro Specialists

Boston, MA — 4月 22, 2014

Rapid7, a leading provider of security data and analytics software and cloud solutions, today announced that it is launching certification programs for Nexpose administrators and Metasploit Pro specialists. These programs will allow security professionals to demonstrate and represent a proven level of knowledge of Rapid7's industry-leading security solutions.

“Certification enables security professionals to ensure that they are armed with the knowledge to get the most out of Rapid7's solutions,” said Mike McKee, senior vice president of Support and Services at Rapid7. “These certifications help security professionals build their credibility with internal stakeholders and management, and deliver greater value and confidence to the organization.”

Jamil Hightower, information security analyst at Rodale, participated in the Nexpose Certification pilot and explains: “As a result of the knowledge I gained through the Nexpose Certification, I have established a new vulnerability management process which has significantly reduced the organization's risk matrix. I found that this approach was a better alternative than providing large reports that no one wants to read. Management is now more engaged, to a point where statistics are reported up to C-level management.”

Security professionals use the award-winning Rapid7 Nexpose vulnerability management software to proactively scan on-premise, cloud, and virtual assets and their applications and services, providing comprehensive, accurate vulnerability coverage. Integrating with Rapid7's Metasploit, Nexpose validates and prioritizes threats beyond industry prioritization standards, such as CVSS. This simplified vulnerability validation and prioritization creates clear and powerful reports and simple mitigation steps.

Metasploit Pro gives security professionals insight into threats being used by attackers in the wild, and the ability to test their defenses against them. By “attacking” their own systems, security professionals can understand which defenses work, what the impact of an attack might be, and how exposed they are to this risk.

“Certifications go hand-in-hand with the continual growth required to be a professional in the information security field and can make the difference between two equally qualified candidates,” said Louis Sanchez, network system specialist at a Cancer Center in the North East. “From that perspective, the Metasploit Pro Specialist Certification is a great way to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with Metasploit. After having taken it, I'd definitely recommend it to my peers and will also update my social profile to display the certification.”

With the new certifications, managers can ensure that their employees are best prepared to install, configure, and operate their Rapid7 solutions. Certifications will also help hiring managers identify prospective employees that will have the most impact on their security team. Security professionals who achieve their certification will strengthen their own abilities to help drive greater productivity in a shorter amount of time.
